July 9, 2012 - Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL)
Missouri Monsters News Release
ST CHARLES, MO - Missouri Monsters indoor football team has added three coaches. The new coaches are J.T. Thompson (offensive coordinator), Charles Edmunds (line) and Kareem Wise (offensive assistant).
During the 2005 and 2006 seasons, with the RiverCity Rage, Thompson coached the number one rated offensive line in the NIFL, an O-line that counted for 60 points a game average. He also helped develop the number one and two passers in the league. In addition, he trained NFLE World Bowl XV and indoor player Sha-Ron Edwards and moved several athletes into college teams. Thompson is also a veteran high school coach with experience going back more than 18 years. Thompson coached at Berkeley High School and also previously served as assistant head coach at Trinity Catholic High School. For the past 10 seasons he has also been the sprint coach at Trinity.
ÂgIÂfm grateful for the opportunity to be part of this organization and I have very high expectations for our upcoming season. Offensively, we have to be able to do the small things right: making reads, catching, blocking, etc. If we can do that, then the rest will take care of itselfÂh said Thompson.
Edmunds has spent over 20 years coaching a variety of football teams and the last four as line coach for Union High School in Union, MO. In 2008, Edmunds was with Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz in af2. In 2005 his defensive line with RiverCity Rage recorded 39 sacks, leading the NIFL. Edmunds also moved notable lineman Bruce Blue to the AFLÂfs NY Dragons. Other teams he has coached include the Show Me Believers, Team USA All-Stars, Springfield Stallions and Pittsburg Outlaws.
I am really excited about being part of the new era of indoor football in St. Charles County. I know we will put a competitive team on the field from day one. Fans can expect this defense to be one that finishes every play with a high level of intensity, said Edmunds.
Wise played college ball at Hutchinson Community College and played a key role in during the late 1990ÂÅs, as a receiver for the Mizzou Tigers. After his career at Mizzou, Wise spent over seven years in arena football playing for the Tulsa Talons, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, Louisville Fire, Peoria Pirates and RiverCity Rage. In 2003 as a member of the Talons Wise captured the af2 Championship at Arena Cup IV. Over the past two high school seasons, he has been a member of the Riverview Gardens staff in St. Louis, MO. and spent time prior at Northwest High School.
Being back in the indoor game is something IÂfve eyed for awhile. I look forward to using my experience to help improve and have a positive impact on the men we sign and on the community, said Wise.
The Monsters will begin play in March 2013 at the St. Charles Family Arena with season tickets starting at $42. For more information visit www.uiflmonsters.com.
