Moncton Magic News Release
Moncton takes a domineering 3-2 series lead over Halifax, defeating the Hurricanes, 111-93. Although up 3-2 in a best of seven Atlantic Division Final, Moncton still has work to do. The team must continue to stay poised, motivated, and driven to finish the job. One more win... is easier said than done.
The Magic were active and defensively sound at getting their hands into passing lanes, forcing nineteen Halifax turnovers. Billy White was the lead scorer with a game-high 29 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Trey Kell was fantastic yet again. If Kell is playing, you can almost guarantee he'll be mentioned in the recap for a staller performance. He finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The Player of the Game, Marcus Lewis, is running out of dunk ideas on the break. With 5 steals in this one, Lewis was all over the rim. He finished with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists to go along with his 5 steals. While Jason Calliste saw some of his shots start to fall, chipping in with 12 points off the Magic bench.
For the Hurricanes, Terry Thomas once again led the fleet for Halifax dropping 25 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Joel Kindred was a spark off the bench for the second game in a row, finishing with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 long balls. Meshack Lufile finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds. While Rhamel Brown contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Game 6 of the Atlantic Division Final between the Moncton Magic and Halifax Hurricanes is set to happen Friday May 3rd, 7pm at the Scotiabank Centre. The Magic nor the Moncton fans want a Game 7 as the team will seek to close out the series in Halifax.
