Mohegan Defeats Brigade in Northeast Battle

Rochester, NY (AP)- In a Northeast Divisional battle, the Rochester Brigade (1-2) fell to the Mohegan Wolves (2-1) by a score of 54-45 in front of 5,789 fans at the Blue Cross Arena; the Wolves edged out the Brigade for second place in the Northeast Division.

Leading the Brigade offense was game IRONMAN WR/DB Aaron Fix, who scored three touchdowns on the night, including a 55-yard missed field goal attempt, a 14-yard rushing touchdown and a 25-yard reception for a score. Quarterback Matt D'Orazio went 17 for 28 with a 139 yards passing and two touchdowns. D'Orazio also registered five rushes for eleven yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, defensive specialist Reggie Blanchard, who registered five solo tackles, including one for a loss and three passes defended, led the Brigade. Fix also had a strong performance at defense registering four solo tackles.

The ADT Defensive Player of the game was OL/DL Ahmad Whitehead, registering two tackles, a half sack and two quarterback hurries on the night.

Leading the way for the Wolves was game MVP Cable Davis, who played a career game, completing 22 of 38 passes for 357 yards and five touchdowns. Davis led the Wolves to six consecutive scoring drives in the first half to give Mohegan a 35-31 lead.

The Wolves had an outstanding performance by team WR/DB Brent Burnside, who caught nine passes for 172 yards and three strikes to lead all receivers on the night. Burnside also threw a touchdown pass for twelve yards to WR/DB Haire Mondez to seal the victory for the Wolves. Defensively, Burnside registered four tackles (three solo) on the night.

Rochester falls to 1-2 on the season, losing two in a row, and Mohegan moves into second place in the Northeast Division with a 2-1 record after winning their last two games. Next week, the Brigade will travel to Albany (2-0) and look to capture the NYS Lottery af2 Cup, and the Wolves will travel to New Haven (0-3).
