Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The Modesto Nuts pitching staff maintained their hold on the JetHawks offense Wednesday morning at John Thurman Field. Starter Shane Lindsay struck out nine batters, Lancaster managed just five hits and the JetHawks were shutout for the second time this season, losing 3-0.

It was a strong pitcher's duel as JetHawks starter Chris Jones matched Lindsay much of the way. Jones held Modesto scoreless into the sixth inning before allowing a lone run. He also struck out eight, matching the season-high he set against the Nuts last week. Carlos Vasquez concluded the game for Lancaster, allowing two runs.

JetHawks chances to score were few and far between. Their best chance came in the seventh inning. Josh Reddick, in his Lancaster debut, singled and Jorge Jimenez reached on an error to put two runners on with no one out. However, the next three JetHawks all flied out to squander the opportunity.

Lancaster managed just five hits. Dennis Blackmon led the team with a pair of singles. Chih-Hsien Chiang saved his hit streak in the eighth inning for the second straight game. He has now had a hit in each of the last eleven games.

The JetHawks wrap up their seven-game road trip Thursday night at Modesto. Jaymie Russ (0-1) will start for Lancaster against Nuts' pitcher Esmil Rogers (2-1). The game starts at 7:05 with the pre-game show on Magic 1340 and www.JetHawks.com beginning at 6:50.
