Mobile Phillips Named Player of Month

NEW YORK, N.Y., March 26, 2002 ? Mobile Revelers' rookie point guard Rashad Phillips was named the National Basketball Development League's Player of the Month for regular season games in March.

Phillips averaged 17.0 ppg on .410 (50-122 FGA) shooting along with 6.7 apg and 2.9 rpg over 34.1 mpg in nine games, helping the Revelers post a 5-4 record in March and to secure the fourth and final NBDL playoff spot.

Here is a look at Phillips' highlights from the month:

· Started and scored in double-figures during all nine games in March.

· Scored a season-high 32 points (10-19 FGA, 5-8 3PT FGA, 7-7 FTA) and dished out eight assists over 46 minutes in 105-95 double overtime win in Greenville on March 17, helping the Revelers snap Greenville's 15-game winning streak.

· Phillips was a key member of the Revelers team in the last week of the season, averaging 16.5 ppg and 7.3 apg over 32.8 mpg in four games (3-1)

· Sank 32-37 FTA (.865) for the month of March, including 10 of 10 attempts against intrastate rival Huntsville in an 82-78 win on March 8.

· Had a 2.9:1 assist to turnover ratio for the month (60 total assists; 21 total turnovers)

· Averaged 19.4 ppg on .461 (35-76 FGA) shooting with 5.8 apg over 34.4 mpg in Mobile's five games this month against playoff-bound opponents.

· Finished the NBDL regular season ranked seventh in both assists (3.7 apg) and free throw percentage (.865).

Other candidates for NBDL Player of the Month included Columbus' Saul Smith and Jeremy Veal, Greenville's Ansu Sesay, Huntsville's Jimmie "Snap" Hunter and North Charleston's Sedric Webber.

Phillips joins Columbus' Tremaine Fowlkes, Mobile teammate Derek Hood, Fayetteville's Terrell McIntyre and Greenville's Ansu Sesay and Billy Thomas in the league's monthly winner's circle.
