MLS Reserve League: Impact Shuts out TFC 1-0

TORONTO, Ont. - Forward Mike Fucito's lone goal of the game was all the Montreal Impact (2-1-0) needed to beat Toronto FC (0-2-0) by a score of 1-0 in its third Reserve League game of the season on Wednesday, at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario.

Fucito, who was wearing the captain's armband for that game, corralled a pass from midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic in the 34th minute, before firing a half-volley shot from a tight angle near the left side of the box to beat TFC's goalkeeper Quillan Roberts.

Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush played all 90 minutes for the team first shut out of the campaign.

Defender Hassoun Camara, returning from a thigh injury, and midfielder Evan James, rejoining the team from Canadian National Team duty, played the full 90 minutes in their Impact MLS debuts, while forward Eduardo Sebrango, also returning from injury, played 70 minutes in the win.

Three U21 Impact players saw action in Toronto. Defender Karl Ouimette played all 90 minutes of the game for the third time this season, while midfielder Wandrille Lefevre and forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel came in as substitutes in the second half.

The Impact is now tied for first place in the Eastern division with the Columbus Crew, both with six points in three games played.

The club's last reserve league game ended in a 3-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls at Montclair State University, on April 1. In its first game, the Impact won 2-1 in Columbus on March 24.

The Impact will play its next Reserve League match on June 2 against Toronto, at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

Reserve League Info

In 2012, each club plays a total of 10 Reserve League games versus each of its divisional opponents. All players appearing on an MLS Club's Official Roster may represent their team in MLS Reserve League play. However, no Player shall play more than 120 minutes in a Reserve Team Match and any preceding match that occurs within a 60-hour period. Further, no player shall play more than a combined total of 90 minutes in a Reserve Team match and any preceding match that occurred within 36 hours prior to such Reserve Team match.
