
MLS Issues Disciplinary Committee Decisions for Week 2

NEW YORK - The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Kianz Froese for one game and issued an undisclosed fine for serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent in the 74th minute of the Whitecaps game against Sporting Kansas City on March 12. Froese will serve the suspension during the Whitecaps' next MLS match on Saturday, March 19 against Seattle Sounders FC.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine to Shkëlzen Gashi for violating MLS policy when entering the field of play in the 90+minute of the Colorado Rapids match against LA Galaxy on March 12. Gashi will serve the suspension during Colorado's next MLS match on Sunday, March 20 against D.C. United.
A undisclosed fine has been issued to Columbus Crew SC forward Federico Higuain by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for his violation of league policy for hands to the face/head/neck of an opponent. The contact occurred in the 80th minute of Crew SC's match against the Philadelphia Union on March 12.
In addition, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued Real Salt Lake midfielder Sunny Obayan an undisclosed fine for embellishment in the 85thminute against Seattle Sounders FC on March 12.
On March 11, Chicago Fire staff member Mario Cruz violated MLS policy when entering the field of play in the 54th minute of play. The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued an undisclosed fine and a one game suspension to Cruz, which will be served during the Fire's next MLS match on Saturday, March 19 against Columbus Crew SC.
