
MLB Umpire Marty Foster to Speak at Banquet

Burlington-IA- The Burlington Bees are pleased to announce that Major League Baseball Umpire Marty Foster will be this year's keynote speaker for the annual Burlington Bees' Winter Banquet, January 6th, 2017 at the Pzazz Convention and Events Center.
Marty Foster is a 20 year veteran Major League Umpire, debuting on September 10th, 1996. The Denver Colorado native is currently on Umpiring Crew K with Mike Winters, Mark Wegner, and Mike Muchlinski. Foster is the son-in-law to the late George Spelius, the former President of the Midwest League.
Foster has umpired many notable games including Tom Glavine's 300th win, on August 5th, 2007, at Wrigley Field. Foster also served as first base umpire in the final game played at the old Yankee Stadium. Foster umpired the 2002 All-Star Game at Miller Park in Milwaukee and has umpired the 2006 National League Division Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Padres as well as the 2008 American League Division Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Prior to working in Major League Baseball, Foster spent time in the Appalachian League, Midwest League, Southern League, International League, Pacific Coast League and the defunct American Association. For more information, call the Bees' office at (319)-754-5705.
