Missouri's Charlie Effinger Named Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month

GLENDALE, AZ (March 28, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Missouri Mavericks Charlie Effinger has been named the Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for March/2012. Effinger will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.
This marks the second time this season that Effinger has been named the top goaltender in a month (October/2011) and throughout this season, the Belleville, Illinois native has been named the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week four times. On Wednesday night, the 6-1, 188-pound goalie stopped 35 shots in a 3-2 win helping the Mavs win Game 1 of their Opening Round series against the Evansville IceMen.
Effinger finished March's regular season with a 7-2-1 record allowing 26 goals in those 10 games, good for a 2.58 goals against average while carrying a .928 save percentage.
On the season, the CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender finalist tied for the league lead with 32 wins and was second in the league with a .923 save percentage.
Other goaltenders receiving consideration for the monthly award for March include Allen's Marco Cousineau and Rejean Beauchemin, Dayton's Larry Sterling, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Quad City's David McKee, Rapid City's Tim Boron, Rio Grande Valley's John Murray and Wylie Rogers and Wichita's Bryan Hogan.
