Mississippi's Mike Moran Named SPHL Rookie Of the Year

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League on Monday announced that Mike Moran of the Mississippi RiverKings has been selected as the Rookie of the Year in a vote of league coaches, general managers and media representatives.

Columbus' Keegan Bruce finished second in the balloting.

In addition to leading the RiverKings in scoring, Moran was second in the SPHL in goals (29), power play goals (eight - tied) and points (53) and third in game-winning goals (eight - tied) and shorthanded goals (two - tied) despite playing just 42 games for Mississippi. Among first-year players, Moran was second in power play assists (nine - tied), third in assists (24 - tied) and fifth in shots on goal (161).
