Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The undefeated Philadelphia Soul is pleased to welcome Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund to Philadelphia as she is scheduled to perform the National Anthem at the Soul's highly anticipated Monday, April 28 game against the Dallas Desperados at 8 p.m.

Miss Haglund is no stranger to the limelight or taking center stage as she was the youngest contestant in the Miss America Competition. Haglund impressed judges with her voice during the talent portion as she sang "Over the Rainbow" during the competition.

In addition to being crowned Miss America, Haglund has many other accomplishments such as being honored to perform as a soloist with the Burklyn Ballet Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland. After her reign as Miss America for the year, she will be on her way to fulfilling her lifelong ambitions of pursuing a career on Broadway. Haglund will return to the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre.

Monday's Soul game marks the latest in a season two undefeated teams have met in AFL history. The previous mark was in 1996 when the Anaheim Piranhas (7-0), then owned by AFL Commissioner DAVID BAKER, lost to the Tampa Bay Storm (6-0), 34-28, to give the Piranhas their first loss.

The Soul are celebrating their fifth anniversary this season. The team has drawn an AFL-best 514,226 fans combined during the past four years. Following last season, the Soul were recognized with the Commissioner's Award as the Organization of the Year and were an honorable mention for the PRISM Award in the category of fan appreciation. Season tickets for the Soul's 2008 season are on sale now. Tickets start as low as $90 for a nine-game plan including a postseason home game.
