This week's MISL action kicks off early, as the Blast heads to St. Louis on Wednesday night. Baltimore defeated the Steamers 7-2 at 1st Mariner Arena on October 17.
Friday, November 28, 2003
Baltimore Blast at Cleveland Force
CSU Convocation Center, 7:35 p.m. ET
Cleveland will look to end a three-game losing streak and avenge an 8-3 loss at the hands of the Blast on November 14 in Baltimore. The Force is 0-2 this season against Eastern Division opponents.
Philadelphia KiXX at Kansas City Comets
Kemper Arena, 6:05 p.m. CT
Kansas City scraped out an 11-9 win in the latest meeting between these two clubs, on November 15 in Philadelphia. The Comets defeated the KiXX 26-6 the last time Philadelphia visited Kemper Arena, on March 4, 2003.
St. Louis Steamers at Milwaukee Wave
U.S. Cellular Arena, 7:00 p.m. CT
Milwaukee is 4-0 at home and 2-0 against Central Division opponents this season. The Wave downed the Steamers 6-2 at Family Arena in St. Charles on November 8. (more)

St. Louis Steamers at Dallas Sidekicks

The Steamers complete a busy week on Saturday with a contest in Dallas. St. Louis has a chance to pay back the Sidekicks for a 5-2 defeat at Family Arena on November 22.
Philadelphia KiXX at San Diego Sockers
San Diego Sports Arena, 7:00 p.m. PT
Philadelphia opened their season with a 5-2 win in San Diego on October 4. The KiXX enter the week with an impressive 3-1 road record, but both of San Diego's wins this season have come at home.

Dallas Sidekicks at Monterrey Fury

After seven road games to open the season, the Fury will open the brand new Monterrey Arena on Sunday evening when the Dallas Sidekicks come to town. One of Monterrey's two wins this season is against Dallas (8-6 on October 5).

Danny Kelly's tally at 7:41 of the third served as the game-winner as the Blast improved to 5-1 at home this season.

Notes: Baltimore used a strong defensive effort to defeat San Diego 3-1 on Friday night at 1st Mariner Arena. Scott Hileman saved seven of eight shots in the game, allowing only an own goal in the second quarter (credited to Sean Bowers). With the win, Baltimore improved to 5-1 at home this season, giving the team the second-best home record in the MISL. Denison Cabral continues to lead the team in scoring with 13 points, tied for seventh in the League. Carlos Farias is right behind him with 12 points. Cabral is also tied for third in the League with nine goals. Hileman is now second in the MISL with a 3.90 goals against average and ranks fifth in both saves (62) and save percentage (.729). The Blast travels to St. Louis on Wednesday night to face the Steamers, then moves on to Cleveland to take on the Force on Friday night.

Notes: The Force suffered its first home defeat of the season on Friday night, falling 7-3 to Monterrey. Lee Edgerton scored twice in the game, and Jim Larkin took the loss with 13 saves. Larkin enters the week ranked sixth in the MISL with a 5.03 goals against average and is fourth with 78 saves. Edgerton now leads the team in scoring with 10 points, tied for 14th in the MISL. Edgerton's nine goals are tied for third in the League. Hector Marinaro leads the League with 19 blocks. Cleveland welcomes the Eastern Division rival Baltimore Blast to the CSU Convocation Center on Friday; the Force is 0-2 against Eastern Division opponents thus far this season.

Notes: Shawn Boney scored four goals as the KiXX defeated the visiting Monterrey Fury 8-5 on Saturday night at the Wachovia Spectrum. Boney was named the MISL Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The 6-7, 265-pound forward is now tied for third in the League with nine goals and tied for 12th in the MISL with 11 points. Ze Roberto recorded three assists in Saturday's game. Goran Vasic leads the team and the League in scoring with 18 points, and is also first with 14 assists. Kevin Sloan is tied for fourth in the MISL with 14 points and leads the circuit with 11 goals. Goalkeeper Peter Pappas is fourth in the MISL in goals against average (4.49), third in save percentage (.757), and first in wins (6), minutes played (467), and saves (109). Philadelphia travels to Kansas City this Friday and San Diego on Saturday.

Notes: The Fury defeated the Cleveland Force 7-3 last Friday night, and fell 8-5 in Philadelphia on Saturday. Genoni Martinez was named the MISL Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring four goals and nine points and blocking five shots in the two weekend games. The reigning Defender of the Year is the highest-scoring backliner in the MISL with 14 points (tied for fourth overall) and is tied for third in the League with 16 blocks. Marco "Chikis" Lopez is tied for 12th in the League with 11 points. The Fury has now ended its season-opening road trip, and will open the brand new Monterrey Arena this Sunday, November 30, against the Dallas Sidekicks. Monterrey will play five of its next seven games at home.

Goalkeeper Victor Nogueira is third in the MISL with a 3.99 goals against average, ranks third in saves (85), and fourth in save percentage (.752). The Sockers welcome the Philadelphia KiXX to San Diego Sports Arena on Saturday; both of San Diego's wins this season have come at home.
LEAGUE NOTES
- On Tuesday, the Baltimore Blast announced the inception of the Baltimore Blast Hall of Fame. The first inductees were Kenny Cooper, Stan Stamenkovic, and Mike Stankovic. Cooper served as the coach of the original Blast and also coached the Baltimore Spirit from 1992-94, and led the Blast to their first title in 1983-84. Stamenkovic, who passed away in 1996, scored 329 points in 179 games for the club and earned the Most Valuable Player Award in 1983-84. Stankovic played nine seasons with the original Blast and went on to coach and play for the Baltimore Spirit.
