
MISL Dallas Sidekicks Inactive for the 2004-05 season

(WESTPORT, Conn., September 13, 2004) - MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan announced today that the Dallas Sidekicks club would be inactive for the upcoming 2004-05 MISL season. The League will continue to work with community leaders and potential investor/operators to return the Major Indoor Soccer League to Dallas for the 2005-06 season.
"The MISL strongly believes in the viability of the Dallas marketplace and will continue its efforts to bring our great game back to the fans of Dallas/Fort Worth," said Commissioner Ryan. "We are in discussions and negotiations with a promising investor/operator group who recognizes both the potential of the market and the tremendous support of the Dallas Sidekicks' loyal fans over the past two decades."
As per MISL Policy, the League will hold a Dispersal Draft on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 12:00 noon (ET) via teleconference for players of the Dallas Sidekicks. The Sidekicks retain the right to designate four players from their current roster who will remain on their protected list until the start of the following season. The MISL will release the master game schedule for the 2004-05 season on Wednesday, September 15, 2004.
The Major Indoor Soccer League is a single-entity organization featuring a coast-to-coast presence with eight teams located across the United States and a ninth team in Monterrey, Mexico. On February 27, the League announced an expansion team in Stockton, CA, that will begin play in 2005-06. On May 4, the League announced plans for an expansion team in Newark, NJ, that will begin play in 2007-08. The MISL is the single major league of indoor soccer. In 2003-04 the League played a 162-game regular season schedule that concluded on April 5. The 2003-04 MISL Championship Series concluded on May 1, when the Baltimore Blast won their second consecutive MISL Championship.
