MISL announces postseason format
Published on February 21, 2006 under Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2) News Release
The 2006 MISL Championship Series is scheduled to begin the weekend of April 14-16. The Championship Series consists of four teams. The MISL Regular Season Champion receives an automatic bid to postseason play and earns the No. 1 seed as determined by regular season win percentage. The other postseason spots are allotted to the three teams with the next best regular season win percentage, determining the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 seeds. Home field advantage is awarded to the higher seeded team.
The Championship Series Semifinal Round is a two-game "home and home" series, with the No. 4 seed meeting the No. 1 seed and the No. 3 seed drawing the No. 2 seed. The higher seed reserves the right to choose home field for either Game One or Game Two. Should the semifinalists split their two games, the series winner will be determined by a "Golden Goal" session, which will immediately follow the conclusion of Game Two. The Championship Series Semifinals are scheduled for the weekends spanning April 14-16 and /or April 21-23, 2006.
The Championship Series Finals pit the winners of the Semifinal Round in a best-of-three series to be played on the weekends spanning from April 28-30 - May 5-7, 2006. The higher seed will earn home field advantage for Games One and Three, while the lower seed will retain home field advantage for Game Two.
