Miracle Erase Four-Run Deficit, Beat Bradenton 9-8

BRADENTON, Fla. (August 29, 2012) - Fort Myers overcame a 7-3 deficit with a six-run sixth inning and hung on for a 9-8 victory against the Bradenton Marauders on Wednesday at McKechnie Field.

Miracle pitcher Tom Stuifbergen gave up 10 hits and seven runs in five innings but earned the win thanks to the offensive outburst in the sixth.

The Miracle trailed 7-3 entering the inning and cut it to 7-4 on an RBI double by Angel Morales. Then with the bases loaded, Levi Michael hit his third double of the game to drive it two runs and make it 7-6.

Daniel Ortiz capped the comeback by blasting a three-run homer off of Emmanuel De Leon to put the Miracle in front, 9-7.

Bradenton got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out double against Miguel Munoz to make it 9-8. The Marauders had a great chance to tie it in the seventh but reliever Ryan O'Rourke pitched out of a big jam. With runners at the corners and no outs, he struck out Justin Howard and got an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play off the bat of Carlos Paulino.

O'Rourke pitched a 1-2-3 eighth and Michael Tonkin picked up his team-high sixth save by striking out the side in the ninth.

With the win, the Miracle won the season series against the Marauders, 10-8. Twelve of the 18 games were decided by one runs.

The Miracle now head back to Hammond Stadium for the final three home games of the season. Thursday they host the Charlotte Stone Crabs starting at 7:05 p.m. for Bobblection.

The first 1,000 fans through the gates can cast their vote for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney and receive a bobblehead of the candidate of their choice. The first candidate to run out of his 500 allotted bobbleheads will be declared the winner of Florida.
