Minot, ND - The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that defenseman James LaDouce has committed to NCAA DI University of Alaska - Fairbanks for next season. LaDouce becomes seventh current or former Tauro to make an NCAA DI commit this season.
A native of Freeland, MI, LaDouce is in his first season with the Minotauros. He represented the Tauros at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. LaDouce, who has 31 points on nine goals and 22 assists is on pace to break John Lizotte's franchise record of 34 points in a season by a defenseman. Six of LaDouce's nine goals have been game winners which is a Tauros franchise record.
Tauros head coach Marty Murray said LaDouce, "is very deserving." Murray continued "coming from the USHL, James has handled himself extremely well, he's worked very hard. It is fun to see a kid progress." LaDouce posted a goal and six assists last season for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL.
LaDouce was quick to credit the "coaches in Minot for helping me develop as a player." As for choosing Alaska LaDouce said, "we have been talking for a few weeks, it is a chance for me to go in and play right away as a Freshman. I'm excited to go there it will be a new experience." LaDouce was quick to thank those who have helped him reach his goal of being a Division One player "my teammates, my parents, my brother and sister have been great role models, and the Minotauros organization has been great to me."
