Princeton, WV - In the Greeneville Astros' first visit of the season to Hunnicutt Field on Friday night, Daniel Minor combined with Tanner Bushue to pitch a one-hitter in Greeneville's 5-0 win over the Princeton Rays. In addition to giving up only one hit, the two pitchers combined to strike out 14 batters while walking just three over nine innings for the Astros' third shutout win of the season.

The first four innings were scoreless, but then the Astros got back-to-back singles from Jose Monzon and D'Andre Toney with one out in the fifth to put a runner in scoring position. After both runners moved over on a ground out by Angel Ibanez, Brian Blasik hit a RBI-single to score Monzon and put the Astros up 1-0.

Following no score in the sixth, Monzon led off the seventh with a bunt single and stole second. After moving over to third on a fly out to center field, Monzon then scored on a wild pitch to make the score 2-0 in favor of Greeneville.

The very next inning, Michael Martinez led off with his sixth double of the season and moved to third on a Terrell Joyce ground out. With newcomer Jose Fernandez batting, Martinez scored on another wild pitch. Then, following a Fernandez walk, Ricky Gingras hit a two-run homer to right field to push Greeneville's lead to 5-0 after eight innings.

With the pitching the Astros had on Friday, five runs were more than enough to secure the win. Bushue entered in the eighth, had two walks, three strikeouts and kept the Rays hitless over the final two innings while maintaining the shutout.

Minor, the Astros' 9th round draft pick in 2012, gave up Princeton's only hit of the game on a triple in the first inning. Besides that, the right-hander struck out 11 batters with only one walk over seven innings as he picked up his first career win.

The Astros face Princeton in game two of their three-game series on Saturday night at 7:05pm. For more information on the Greeneville Astros, please visit www.greenevilleastros.com or call (423) 638-0411.
