Minnesota Swarm's Ryan Ward Named NLL Offensive Player of the Week

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced today that Minnesota Swarm forward Ryan Ward has been named the Week 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Ward, 25 (9/26/80), collected three goals and seven assists in Minnesota's 14-12 come-from-behind win at Portland last Friday. The Victoria, British Columbia-native notched the game-tying goal and three assists as the Minnesota outscored the LumberJax 6-1 in the decisive fourth quarter. His 10-point effort established a new franchise record for most points in a game by a Swarm player. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound forward leads the Swarm in scoring with 48 points (14-34=48) in 11 games this season. The award is Ward's first player award of the season.

Minnesota acquired Ward from Philadelphia on February 8, 2005 along with the Wings fourth round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for Shawn Nadelen and the Swarms first round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. He collected 44 points (19-25=44) in 11 games with Minnesota last season following the trade. Ward is in his third NLL campaign and has collected 136 points (56-80=130) points in 40 career games with Minnesota and Philadelphia. He was originally selected by the Wings in the first round (third overall) of the 2003 NLL Entry Draft.

Minnesota (6-5) returns home following a four-game road trip to host the Buffalo Bandits (5-4) on Friday, March 24 at 7:00 PM at Xcel Energy Center.
