Minnesota Swarm's Movember Campaign Raises Total of $2,410

Minnesota Swarm News Release

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - During the Minnesota Swarm's first training camp session this past weekend, several players carried some additional weight when they suited up on the floor.

And thankfully for coach Mike Lines, the extra weight his players had put on wasn't due them being out of shape, but rather was the result of weeks spent growing out mustaches to raise awareness for Movember.

Led by Mo Bro captain Joe Cinosky, the Swarm's Movember team comprised of players, coaches, staff members and fans raised a total of $2,410 last month in support of research programs that focus on prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

"I'd like to send a huge thank you to everyone who supported us by donating money," Cinosky said. "It all goes a long way. Hopefully, next year we will have even bigger and better mustaches."

Swarm players and coaches that sported Mo's for Movember included: Ryan Benesch, Jamie Shewchuk, Noah Talbot, Andrew Suitor, Jordan MacIntosh, Todd Baxter and Aime Caines.

"I wanted to join the fight against cancer," Benesch said. "Cancer is something that we need to beat. My grandfather died of cancer and it's just one of those diseases that you never want anyone to have."

On Saturday, Dec. 3, Movember will conclude with a Gala at Nomad Pub in Minneapolis. The night will feature contests, entertainment and, of course, shaving off the Mo's. Swarm mascot Buzz will also be in attendance from 9 to 10 p.m.
