SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced today that Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill has won the NLL's General Manager of the Year Award for the second consecutive season.

"I am extremely surprised and honored to be selected for this Award again," said O'Neill. "I was extremely happy at the strides we made on the field as our team continues to evolve. The addition of Andy Secore, and later Dan Marohl, Keith Cromwell and Ian Rubel made us a more well rounded team," he added. "I look forward to the task of improving the Swarm for a championship run in 2009."

O'Neill, 43 (6/6/64), oversaw the Swarm's best season in team history in 2008 as the club posted a franchise record 10 wins and finished in second place in the East Division. Minnesota hosted its first-ever home playoff game this season, an 11-8 loss to New York, and has advanced to the playoffs the last three campaigns. The Swarm has improved its record all four seasons in the NLL. Minnesota posted a 5-11 record in its 2005 expansion season. In 2006, Minnesota went 8-8 and finished in fourth place in the East Division. O'Neill was also awarded the NLL General Manager of the Year Award in 2007 after the Swarm posted a 9-7 record and finished in third place in the East Division.

The award winners are chosen by a vote of the leagues coaches, general managers and executives. Previous winners of the General Manager of the Year Award include: Marty O'Neill (2007, Minnesota), Derek Keenan (2006, Portland), Bob Hamley (2005, Arizona), Johnny Mouradian (2004, San Jose), Kurt Silcott (2003, Buffalo) and Dave Evans (2002, Vancouver).
