March 6, 2018 - Prospect League (Prospect)
West Virginia Miners News Release
Pitcher Brandon Liskey of Belmont University has agreed to play summer baseball in 2018 for the West Virginia Miners of the Prospect League. The Miners announced the agreement on the morning of Tuesday, March 6.
Liskey will join the Miners after pitching the spring of 2018 as a redshirt junior for Belmont University, which is located in Nashville, TN and a member of the NCAA D-I Ohio Valley Conference.
He started seeing action for the Bruins early in 2018 with five appearances on the mound through games of March 5. In those five games (all were relief appearances), the 6'5" left-hander recorded a 3.86 earned run average in 4.2 innings of work with six strikeouts versus six walks issued. Also, through games of March 5, opposing hitters have only been able to muster a .214 batting average versus Liskey. His only other prior college numbers for Belmont were in the 2016 season, when he appeared in seven games (all in relief) and saw 4.1 innings of action.
Brandon had a terrific scholastic career, which was split between Turner Ashby High School (Bridgewater, VA) and Spotswood High School (Penn Laird, VA). His overall numbers as a high schooler showed him with a final record of 16-5 with 184 strikeouts. His teams all advanced deep in state postseason play during his high school career.
