
Miners Fall to Freedom in Game 3

Marion, IL - The Southern Illinois Miners suffered their first loss in the postseason as the Florence Freedom defeated the Miners 4-3 to avoid being swept. Miners starter Cody Hall received his first loss of the post season as he went 4.2 innings and gave up four runs in the loss.
The Miners got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning off Freedom starter Brad Allen as Ken Gregory hit a two out RBI single to give the Miners a 1-0 lead. The Miners added another run in the bottom of the third inning when Jason Ganek hit a sacrifice fly off Allen to give the Miners a 2-0 lead.
The Freedom scored two runs off Cody Hall in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. The Miners came right back with a RBI double from Cannon Lester to give Southern Illinois a 3-2 lead. Florence took their first lead of the game as they scored two runs off Hall in the top of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead.
Reese McGraw made his first post season appearance and pitched 3.1 innings in relief and struck out three batters. Gabriel Shaw pitched the ninth inning and gave up one hit and struck out two batters.
The Miners and Freedom will play Game Four of the Championship series Sunday night at Rent One Park. The Miners will send LHP Shawn Gilblair to the mound who will be making his first post season appearance against Freedom RHP Andy Clark who will be pitching on three days rest. Clark lost Game One to David Harden in Florence. First pitch is at 5:05 pm. Mike Ventola will have the call on the Miners Radio Network beginning with the Heartland Regional Medical Center Pregame Show at 4:45 pm.
Tailgating will be taking place tomorrow at Rent One Park. If fans arrive before at 3:45 pm, their parking will be free. The parking lot will open at 3:00 pm. Fans can bring their ticket stub from Saturday night's game and show it to the parking attendant and will get free parking.
