Miners and United Food Bank team up

MESA, ARIZONA -The Mesa Miners are teaming up with the United Food Bank for a food drive to help celebrate "Christmas in July" at HoHoKam Park on Saturday, July 16.

The United Food Bank will be dropping off donation bins at HoHoKam Park where fans can donate canned food items and receive a voucher for $1.00 off any ticket for the game on Saturday, July 16 when the Miners take on the Chico Outlaws at 6:05pm.

"The Mesa Miners are proud to be teamed up with a great organization like the United Food Bank," said Miners general manager Becky Thielen.Å¡ "Our Christmas in July celebration on July 16 is another way that our fans have an opportunity to help out their community.Å¡ We can show that baseball is the season for giving."

Committed to reducing hunger by acting as a community bridge between those who want to help and those who are in need, United Food Bank has served all of Eastern Maricopa County, Pinal and Gila County, and southern portions of Navajo and Apache Counties since 1983.Å¡ As an America's Second Harvest member, UFB is part of a 200-food bank network that provides connections to national food companies.Å¡ Last year, United Food Bank distributed nearly 14 million pounds of food to 253 partner agencies and sister food banks - food enough to provide more than 10.6 million meals.
