Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE (November 17, 2010)- The Milwaukee Wave's first week of the season started on the right foot with a 20-9 win in its season opener, Marcio Leite named MISL Player of the Week and the return of Marco Terminesi to the team. Marcio Leite Named MISL Player of Week and Sets Wave Record
Wave forward Marcio Leite's performance in the season opener last Friday landed him in the Wave's record book and the title of Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Player of the Week. Leite led the Wave to a 20-9 victory over the Missouri Comets with one goal and five assists for a total of seven points. His five assists in the game put him into the Milwaukee Wave's Record books. His goal came 13 seconds into the third quarter to put the Wave on top, 8-2.
"Even though Marcio isn't 100% he started off his comeback with an exceptional night registering five assists. It was great way to start off the season with an important victory on the road versus a very good Comets team. The atmosphere was electric and extremely loud with their sell out," said Head Coach, Keith Tozer.
Leite, who missed the last two seasons with knee injuries, was named Second-Team All-MISL in 2007-08 and was selected to the All-Rookie team after the 2006-07 season.
Marco Terminesi Returns to the Wave
Marco Terminesi was the leading scorer for the Milwaukee Wave and the third-leading scorer in the MISL when he was placed on the injured reserve last February for a brain tumor. Although missing the remainder of the season, Terminesi was still named to the Second Team All-MISL.
Terminesi began experiencing symptoms of nausea, headaches and vertigo last January. A native of Woodbridge, Ontario, he returned to Canada for treatment. "Everyone associated with the Wave could not be happier that Marco is ok health wise. That was the first victory. To have Marco back is a big shot in the arm for our franchise both on and off the field. Marco has established himself as one of the top goal scorers in the MISL and a fan favorite because of his ability and personality," stated Coach Tozer.
As a rookie in 2008-09, Terminesi racked up 52 points in 20 games and was Xtreme Soccer League Rookie of the Year. In August, 2010 he signed to the Montreal Impact for the remainder of the outdoor season. Home Opener November 26th
The Wave will host the Comets for their home opener on Friday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now with a Family 4-Pack promotion available and are available online or through the Milwaukee Wave office.
