Milwaukee runs away from Mahoning Valley

Youngstown, OH. - The Milwaukee Iron took advantage of a lethal running game crushing Mahoning Valley 59-39 for the first win in franchise history. The Iron rushing game racked up 59 yards and five of the eight Iron touchdowns. Milwaukee took an early lead, scoring on its first drive of the game when quarterback Tyler Donovan hit Kellen Allen from eight yards out. Mahoning Valley answered with a 23 yard Davon Vinson to Quorey Payne touchdown strike on its opening drive tying the game at 7. Milwaukee added a late first quarter field goal and never looked back.

Mahoning Valley Quarterback Davon Vinson threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another, but it wasn't enough. Vinson finished 19 of 30 for 182 yards, throwing four touchdowns and two interceptions. Both of Vinson's interceptions were hauled in by Lavar "The Interceptor" Steper, including a third quarter pick he returned 30 yards for an Iron touchdown.

Iron Quarterback Tyler Donovan completed 20 of his 29 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Donovan alsoran for two rushing touhdowns. At the end of the night, the Milwaukee rushing attack proved to be the difference. Aside from Donovan's two scores, Tyre Young, Antoine Burns and Scott Burnoksi all found the end zone by way of the ground.

Milwaukee is 1-1 on the season an remains on the road in Moline Illinois Saturday ngiht to take on the Quad Cities Steamwheelers. The Iron are home at the Bradley Center on Friday, April 17 vs. Peoria.
