Manchester, New Hampshire: The Manchester Millrats of the American Basketball Association (ABA) prepare for the franchise's first ever tryout camp this Saturday at the SportsZone in Derry. Players from all over the region, and all over the country, have registered on the team's website at www.manchestermillrats.com. The response and level of interest in the camp has been tremendous, according to Millrats' General Manager Ian McCarthy.

"We've had over 70 players register thus far for the tryout, which is fantastic and gives us a great pool of talent to draw from," explained McCarthy.

Some notable local players who have indicated they will be at the camp include: 6'6 forward P.J. Young from Southern New Hampshire University, point guard Pierre Sully from Franklin Pierce, and forward Nazim Senaldi, also from Franklin Pierce. Young played professionally in Portugal last season where he was an All Star.

Regional big name players such as Lynn, MA natives Dwight Brewington and Troy Brown are also expected to be at the camp, as well as Salem State, MA two-time Little East Conference Player of the Year, Eric Downie. Brewington, who is 70% deaf, was the second leading scorer for the Providence Friars in 2004-2005 behind current NBA Timberwolves' forward Ryan Gomes. He transferred to Liberty College last season before declaring for the NBA draft this past spring. Brown played at Providence College back in the early nineties, and after a long professional career that included stints in the NBA, Europe, and the Middle East, he's been in the ABA for the past two seasons as a teammate of Keith Friel on the Rochester Razorsharsks. Other players have registered for the camp from as far away as Oregon, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Connecticut.

Registration and sign-ins will be between 11:00 and 12:00 a.m. on Saturday. The players hit the court at noon with drills, and then eventually the players will be broken down into teams and scrimmage each other. When the camp wraps up at 5:00 p.m., twelve players will be selected to participate in a scrimmage against the Sta. Lucia Realtors, a professional team from the Philippines.

Pre-registration ends Thursday at midnight, so all interested players, who haven't done so already, are encouraged to go online to www.manchestermillrats.com and pre-register. Pre-registered players will pay a $65.00 tryout fee while players who register at the door will pay $85.00. For out of area players, Manchester-Boston Airport is conveniently served by Southwest Airlines, and the Millrats have negotiated a discounted rate of $45.00 per night at the Sleep Inn in Londonderry, NH. Please call the hotel directly if you need a reservation. More details are available on the team's website.

Members of the media and the general public are invited to attend the camp and observe the proceedings. The SportsZone's snack bar will be open during the camp. The SportsZone is located at 7 A Street in Derry, New Hampshire and their website is www.nhsportszone.com.

The Millrats are a new entry in the American Basketball Association (ABA), and will play their home games in the 'Fieldhouse' on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. The season and home opener is set for Sunday November 11, 2007 at 4:35 p.m. versus the Boston United Eagles.
