
Mill Rats Lose by One Point in Overtime against Oshawa Power

(Oshawa, ON): The Saint John Mill Rats lost in overtime by one point against the Oshawa Power on Wednesday evening at the General Motors Centre in front 1,266 fans with a final score of 120-119.
The Mill Rats opened strong closing the first quarter 22-27. Steve Deluca nailed down 9 points, all from the three point line.
The Mill Rats were able to outscore the Oshawa Power in every quarter but the second. Four minutes in, Oshawa started to pull ahead. With 2:19 on the clock, Oshawa held the lead, 50-47. Oshawa then went on an eight point run and closed the half 58-49.
Third quarter saw some great minutes from Darren Duncan, Anthony Anderson and Antonio Burks. A three from Burks tied the game 80-80 with just under a minute in the third. The Mill Rats closed the third trailing behind the Power by one point, 84-83.
The Mill Rats were able to catch up the Power in the fourth quarter. We trailed 104-88 with four minutes left on the clock but made an improbable comeback to send the game into overtime. Burks subbed into the game and knocked out a three bringing the score to 112-110. With 4.5 seconds on the clock, DeLuca shoots what looks like a three but the refs call it a two.
Burks was able to nail off the three pointer to tie the game 115-115 just before the buzzer.
The Mill Rats lost in overtime 120-119.
This game marked the debut for Stanley Ocitti - former player for the Saint John Mill Rats in the 2010-2011 season. He chipped in 2 points.
Top scorers for the Mill Rats were Isaac Kuon with 21 points, Darren Duncan with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, and Steve DeLuca with 15. Leading scorers for Oshawa were Brandon Robinson with 37, Omari Johnson with 23 and Morgan Lewis with 21.
The Mill Rats travel to London tonight to take on the #1 ranked team in the league, the London Lightning tomorrow. Game time 7pm.

The Mill Rats fall to 14-16 on the season while the Power rises to 13-19.
