(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats ground out their third straight road win by holding off the Halifax Rainmen, 88-81, at the Metro Centre.

The Mill Rats improve to 5-2 on the season and 5-1 on the road. They now have six days to rest and recover from three road games in four days, and prepare for a double-header at Harbour Station next weekend.

"This was a gutsy performance by our veterans, Jermaine Blackburn went down with a hamstring injury in the first quarter, and my guys just sucked it up and gave it everything they had and we pulled out the win," said Mill Rats Head Coach Rob Spon.

It was the second game of so-called vindication for former Rainmen Head Coach Rob Spon and former Rainmen player Tyrone Levett. Levett scored 21 points and hauled down 9 rebounds against his former club. The Mill Rats defeated Halifax on opening night November 1st, 105-85.

Again the Mill Rats led from wire to wire, this time pushing out to a 46-35 halftime lead. They extended their lead to 15 in the second half but had to endure a ferocious rally by the Rainmen.

Things began to get tense when the Rainmen cut the lead down to 85-83 with 1:31 left. Tyrone Levett nailed a tough jumper at the top of the key to push the lead back to 4, and Anderson and Levett made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to ice the win. Click here or the full BOX SCORE.

Their next home games are Saturday November 23rd against the Brampton A's and the 24th against the Moncton Miracles.

Single game, season & flex tickets are still on sale at the at the Harbour Station Box Office by calling 506-657-1234.
