Mill Rats Drop Opener on Road

(Summerside, PE) The Saint John Mill Rats dropped their season opener on the road 118-99 to the Summerside Storm. The Mill Rats opened strong, leading 16-6 midway through the first quarter. At the end of one, the Storm had regained the lead 26-22. In the second quarter the Storm looked like a hurricane as they opened up a 19 point lead before Saint John cut it to 55-42 at the half. In the second half, Saint John got as close as six, at 83-77, before Summerside pulled away down the stretch. Jerice Crouch led Saint John in scoring with 27, Anthony Anderson added 24, and PJ Young 17. Former Mill Rat Greg Plummer hit for 27 for Summerside.
The Mill Rats open up their season at home tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 3rd at Harbour Station against the Montreal Jazz at 7pm.
The game will be the debut of the Mini Millies Dance Team, choreographed and sponsored by Melanie Fowler of S.I.T. Studios.
The Mill Rats also will be supporting the Empty Stocking Fund, in its 100th year of operation, this weekend at the game! Fans are encouraged to bring any spare coins they may have gathering dust, to go towards helping children who are less fortunate.
