Mike Lookingland and Sagu Named December 2010 MISL Players of the Month

MISL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

December 2010

Offensive: Carlos Farias, Omaha Vipers Vipers forward Carlos Farias recorded 15 points in four games in December as the Vipers went 2-2, including a 9-8 win over the previously undefeated Baltimore Blast. Farias scored six goals in December and leads the MISL with 27 points so far this season. All of his points last month came in the Vipers' two wins: Farias recorded 10 points (one three-point goal, three two-point goals and one assist) in the 17-6 win over the Riot and he added a three-point goal and a two-point goal in the win over the Blast. Farias, one of the first two players signed by the Vipers, was a member of the 2010 MISL Championship Monterrey La RaZa and has been named MISL Player of the Week twice already this season (November 23 and December 13).

Defensive: Mike Lookingland, Baltimore Blast Blast defender Mike Lookingland led Baltimore's defense in December with four points and 10 blocks, as the Blast went 3-1 in the month. Lookingland, who has seven points and 13 blocks this season, scored a goal in Baltimore's 226-6 win over the Comets on the 29th and added two assists in December.

Goalkeepers: Sagu, Baltimore Blast and Nick Vorberg, Milwaukee Wave Sagu and Nick Vorberg posted nearly identical stats for the month of December, both going 3-1 and playing nearly every second of the four games. Blast goalkeeper Sagu allowed 14 goals (three three-point goals and 11 two-point goals) for a total of 31 points and Wave goalkeeper Vorberg allowed 15 goals (one three-point goal and 14 two-point goals) for 31 points. The Blast and Wave are tied for first place in the MISL with identical 5-1 records heading into the weekend's home-and-home series between the teams.

About the Major Indoor Soccer League

The MISL represents the Major League of professional indoor soccer in the United States and features the finest indoor soccer players from around the world. The league currently has five member clubs for the 2010-11 season: the Baltimore Blast, Chicago Riot, Milwaukee Wave, Missouri Comets and the Omaha Vipers. The 2010-11 regular season began on November 12 and will end on March 13. The postseason will begin the following week and conclude at the end of the month.
