Chicago Rush News Release

June 12, 2002 - The Chicago Rush announced today that it has hired Mike Gordon as the team's new vice president of sales. Gordon will oversee all of the team's corporate sponsorship and ticket sales initiatives.

"We are thrilled that Mike has decided to join our front office," said Rush senior vice president/general manager Mike Polisky. "Our organization has made great strides in its first two seasons without an experienced leader in the sales department. Now, by adding someone with Chicago roots and a proven track record in corporate sales, ticket sales and marketing, we expect our organization to reach its full potential."

Gordon has spent the previous seven years working in the athletic department at DePaul University, serving both as the school's director of marketing (1997-2002) and ticket manager (1995-97).

In his position as director of marketing, Gordon was responsible for the marketing, advertising, corporate sponsorship and ticket sales for DePaul athletics. During his tenure, he dramatically increased corporate sponsorships for the DePaul athletic program, while also emphasizing a more fan-friendly atmosphere at Blue Demon sporting events.

Gordon directed DePaul's marketing and merchandising plan for the university 's new athletic logo, which was unveiled in October of 1999. In addition, Gordon's responsibilities included attracting University-wide sponsorship deals.

Prior to working in the athletic department, Gordon worked in DePaul's Office of Institutional Planning and Research from 1991-95. In that position, he provided analysis of university data and developed various planning models to support planning initiatives.

Besides his work at DePaul, Gordon has developed planning models and surveys for the Chicago Blackhawks and Major League Baseball as well as the DePaul athletic department. He also served in press operations for the 1994 World Cup in Chicago.

Gordon has a bachelor's of arts degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Economics from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. At Knox, he played two seasons of football. He received a master's degree in Marketing from DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in 1995.
