Michigan Warriors Defeat Bandits 2-1 to Advance.

Michigan Warriors News Release

The Michigan Warriors defeated the St. Louis Bandits 2-1 Monday night in St. Louis, to force a play-in series to determine the final team to participate in the 2011 Robertson Cup Tournament.

The Michigan Warriors got a 1st Period goal by Ryan Green (2) and another in the 2nd Period by Andrew Kolb (3), and that would be all the Warriors needed as goaltender Robert Tadazak, made 29 saves keeping the Bandits off the scoreboard until Evan Stibbard notched his 2nd of the playoffs with 1:50 left in the game. Tadazak and the Warriors defense held the rest of the way to enable the Warriors to knock the regular season North division champion Bandits out of the playoffs.

With the victory over the Bandits, the NAHL North Division Playoff Champion Michigan Warriors will now play a best-of three series against the 2010 NAHL Robertson Cup Champion Bismarck Bobcats.

As the two remaining playoff teams with the fewest points in the regular season, Michigan and Bismarck will play in the best-of-three play-in series. The winner will advance to the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament as the No. 4 seed.

Dates and times of the playoff series with Bismarck are being determined by the Warriors, Perani Arena, and the NAHL, and the Warriors are hoping to announce the game Dates and Times, sometime on Tuesday.
