
Michael Beavis Hired As Head Coach

The Rome Copper City Chief's President/GM Wayne Premo is very please to announce the hiring of Head Coach Michael Beavis of Mexico NY. Per team policy terms of the contract were not released. The only information released is that it is a 2 year contract with a third year option. I am pleased with Mikes background and history in hockey that I am comfortable enough to sign him for 2 years Premo said. Mike's playing career started in 1966 when playing 9 years in Westfield Youth Hockey Association in Westfield MA. Mike continued to play in Western Ma from 1976-1979 playing JR B league hockey under Eddie Shore and James Anderson. Mike played 1 year JR B in Ottawa before a serious off ice leg injury ended his playing Career. In 1977 Mike became a staff member of the Anderson Hockey School and held many coaching positions over the next 30 years. In 2005 Mike was the assistant coach of the Syracuse Stars EJHL and moved to assistant coach of the Oswego Admirals OPJHL in 2006-2007. Mike has also spent many years as director, instructor of many hockey schools including Howe hockey. Mike was presented the athletes choice award by Gordie Howe for community work done for youth hockey programs in 1996. Mike has many big name connections that are going to be a big help in recruiting and moving players to the next level. The Chiefs will announce next week the dates and location of their open training camp which will take place in September. The season will start November 1 when they visit Danbury MadHatters and will host the Jersey RockHoppers November 7 at the Kennedy Arena.
