Miami Morays News Release
Miami, FL â As part of their continuing efforts to make a positive impact in the local community through their "Partners in SHINE" program, the Miami Morays is pleased to announce their partnership with Dr. Fredericka Wilson's "5000 Role Models of Excellence" program.
The 5000 Role Models of Excellence program was founded by Dr. Fredericka S. Wilson in order to provide African-American boys a foundation of life skills, academic inspiration, and social education. At-risk youth are paired with adult mentors who meet with them regularly to provide advice, guidance, and education on social issues.
The Miami Morays recently launched Partners in SHINE program is designed to encourage participation and excitement for the FCAT tests taken by every Florida student. SHINE stands for Success, Health, Inspire, Nurture, and Excel.
To kick off the partnership, the first event will be the "Alternative Careers in Sports" symposium on March 14th at Parrot Jungle. This symposium will be part of the 5000 Role Models annual "Finished High School, Now What?" conference.
The purpose of the symposium, which will be attended by more than 700 high school seniors, is to make young people aware of the different career opportunities in professional sports that exist outside of being an athlete. Conducting the symposium will be featured members of the Moray's staff, team owner Oronde Gadsden, and other notable Miami sports business professionals.
The Partners in SHINE program will continue to participate with 5000 Role Models of Excellence throughout the year.
The Miami Morays will play in the National Indoor Football League, entering its fifth season with 21 teams located across the United States. The NIFL provides players with an opportunity to develop their skills and continue their careers in professional football.
The Miami Morays season kick off a 14 game schedule in late March with seven home games at the Miami Arena. For additional information about the Miami Morays, please call Mark Fischel at 305-374-8950 or visit us at www.miamimoraysfootball.com.
