
Miami FC slaughters the Silverbacks 7-1; hat trick by Romario

August 29, 2006- Miami, FL- Miami FC was unstoppable this Sunday afternoon at Tropical Park Stadium. The South Floridian men crushed the Atlanta Silverbacks 7-1 and are well in route to the play-offs in their inaugural season in the USL First Division.
In the first half, Miami FC played simply their best 45 minutes so far this season. The South Floridian squad was aggressive and effective, and ended up with a 3-0 lead. At the 13th minute, Diego Walsh drilled a shot from outside the box and scored his 3rd goal in the last 4 games to give Miami FC the lead. Then, at the 30th minute, on an eececellent thoughr ball from Zinho, Sean Fraser hit a low near post shot to just slide by Shau Kalnasy to put Miami FC two up. Almost three minutes later Miami FC gave the fans something else to cheer about. A cross by Jamil Jean-Jaques was perfectly headed in by Romario who scored his 15th goal of the season and gave the Floridians the 3-0 lead at half time.
Just minutes into the second half and Miami FC still did not take their foot off the gas pedal. In the 49th minute Sean Fraser scored his second goal of the game and made it 4-0. A few minutes later, Romario took advantage of a one on one situation with keeper Kalnasy and made it look so easy for the South Floridans sitting at 5-0. In the 53rd, Romario took his time in and made a beautiful shot from outside the box to tally the sixth goal for Miami FC. It was Romario's second hat-trick of the season and his 17th goal. At the 61st minute Rodrigo Rios took one back for Atlanta and put the score 6-1; but 10 minutes later, Diego Walsh had another great shot after an assist by goalkeeper Eric Kronberg and made it 7-1 for Miami FC.
After the game, Brazilian scoring legend, Romario, said, "Scoring is always great, but the most important thing is that the team is peaking at the right moment."
Miami FC plays their last regular season home game next Friday, September 1, at 8:00 PM against the Minnesota Thunder at Tropical Park Stadium.
