
Miami FC Returns to Lockhart for Playoff Push

MIAMI, August 13, 2009- Miami returns to Lockhart Stadium this Friday night to face the Minnesota Thunder. This game will be featured on national television as the FOX Soccer Channel game of the week. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 PM.
The Blues currently find themselves in a competitive playoff race in the final stretch of the USL-1 regular season. Miami is presently tied for the last play-off spot with the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Montreal Impact, who lost against the Portland Timbers 0-1 Wednesday night, is in 5th place and only has one more point than the Blues.
The Minnesota Thunder has yet to win a road game this season. The Blues visited National Sports Center on July 24th ; they beat the Thunder with a fascinating performance by Brazilian striker Paulo Jr., who scored two goals and was named part of the USL Team of the Week. Minnesota has won two out of its last five games and is in 9th place.
The Blues made headlines this week signing World Cup veteran Junior Baiano; they also show cast its other addition, Gale Agbossoumonde, who is one of the best players in the USA U-20 player pool. On the pitch, Miami has only lost three out of its last nine games. Everyone on the team recognizes the importance of this Friday's match up.
"Everyone understands how decisive this game is. We need these three points to put us in a better position to make the playoffs," said head coach Zinho. "Hopefully we can come away with a victory and get some momentum back before we have to travel to Portland."
After tomorrow's game, Miami FC will travel to Portland to face the hottest team in the USL. Portland has not lost a game since its first game of the season against Vancouver, 0-1. The team is currently riding a 21 game undefeated streak. This game, as well as all other USL-1 games, will be broadcasted live on www.usllive.com.
