June 25, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Miami FC News Release
Miami, Fla. - The Miami Football Club was stunned by LA Galaxy II, losing 3-1 at FIU Stadium on Saturday night. As a result, Miami FC remains in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, with 21 points after 17 games.
Starting XI vs. LA Galaxy II
Head coach Anthony Pulis wasted no time in getting the club's newest signing into his starting eleven.
Winger Joaquín Rivas joined Salvadoran teammate Joshua Pérez and striker Kyle Murphy in Miami's attacking line. Also, last year's center-back regulars Callum Chapman-Page and Paco Craig started in the backline.

Game Breakdown
Left-back Othello Bah kicked off the night with a shot on target in the second minute. However, Miami FC conceded back-to-back goals before the tenth minute.
Miami cut the difference to one in the 16th minute. Rivas received the ball inside the box on the right flank and crossed it into the six-yard box. The ball deflected off a defender and into Murphy's path.

MFC continued to pursue the draw. Attacking midfielder Florian Valot launched a left-footed shot from outside the 18-yard-box. However, goalkeeper Richard Sánchez blocked the shot and was quick enough to collect the rebound.
Controversy struck in the 43rd minute. Valot crossed a ball from a wide free-kick, and Chapman-Page redirected the ball toward the goal. Sanchéz blocked the first shot and Chapman-Page shot again. The ball went into the goal, but the referee did not blow his whistle.
LA Galaxy II led at the half 2-1.
The intensity of the first half did not carry onto the second half. Unfortunately for Miami FC, striker Preston Judd helped LA Galaxy II regain the two-goal cushion they held in the first fifteen minutes.
Midfielder Bolu Akinyode, who was subbed onto the game in the 72nd minute, had a back-heel attempt on goal. However, the shot was blocked.
