
Miami FC Earns Important Road Draw

Miami, June 5, 2010 - Miami FC drew an important away game against the MLS-bound Montreal Impact. The Blues took an early lead after a lethal strike from ex-MLS MVP Christian Gomez. The Impact tied the match after Tony Donatelli converted a questionable penalty kick. Miami will return home this Wednesday, June 9th to face Crystal Palace Baltimore at Lockhart Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
"It was a good effort from our players not to have a bad result. We are looking forward to playing our next two games in front of our home crowd," said Head Coach Victor Pastora.
Miami FC started the match with various offensive opportunities. The Blues put together a beautiful string of passes together ending in a one on one opportunity for Euzebio Neto. Neto fired off shot that was deflected by a Montreal defender. On the ensuing corner kick, Neto crossed a ball that was deflected by Hicham Aaboubou. The rebound landed at the feet of Christian Gomez, who unleashed a violent shot beating Srdjan Djekanovic; putting the Blues up 1-0.
In the 21st minute Leonardo Di Lorenzo got the first clear shot on goal for the Impact. After launching a shot from the top of the 18 yard box that seemed destined to tie the game at one, Caleb Patterson made an acrobatic save preserving Miami FC's one goal lead.
The Impact tied the game on a questionable call by the center referee. After an Impact corner the center referee called a foul inside the box and awarded a penalty kick for the Impact. Donatelli kicked the ball towards the left of the Miami goal. Patterson was able to get a hand on the ball but it found its way towards the back of the net, tying the game at one.
In the beginning of the second half Miami continued to maintain possession of the ball. Paulo Jr and Euzebio Neto created a one on one opportunity but Euzebios shot sailed wide of the mark.
Moments later ,Montreal looked to take the lead when Leonardo Di Lorenzo rifled a dangerous long distance shot, forcing Patterson to make one of his four saves of the match.
Miami continued its strong play and maintained possession of the ball for most of the second half. Chrstiano Dias, had a clear opportunity, after a Miami FC corner kick, Dias found a rebound in the box, and launched a clear shot that just sailed high of the net.
