
Miami FC and Deportivo Alaves battled at Tropical Park

The first half was very exciting. Both Miami FC and Alaves created multiple scoring opportunities that, either missed the goal by inches, or were stopped by keepers Roberto Bonano and Eric Kronberg. At the 18th minute of play, Romario had a one on one with Bonano after a precise pass by Jeff Matteo, but the Argentine goalkeeper won the duel. Afterwards, Guatemalan Mario Rodriguez had two clear opportunities but one was stopped, by Bonano and the other one couldn't find the goal. Then, Diego Walsh had a shot miss by inches at the 30th minute. But at the 38th minute, Romario scored a remarkable goal after a John Pulido assist to give Miami FC a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Deportivo Alaves came out with the a strong determination to tie the match. For 20 minutes, goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap (who came in at halftime) was unbeatable. But at the 75th minute of play, Arthuro was able to hit it past Gilstrap with a right footed blast. Miami FC looked to react but the Spanish defense would deny them. At the 90th minute, Pape Thiaw gave Alaves the 2-1 victory converting a penalty kick.
Miami FC plays the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, August 6, at 4Ma:00 PM at Tropical Park Stadium.
