Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Miami, July 28, 2008 - No time to rest. No time to celebrate either. After a convincing 3-0 victory against the Atlanta Silverbacks yesterday, Miami FC (5-7-8) was back to Tropical Park today for an afternoon practice session. The Blues will need all the practice they can get. Miami FC will face the Vancouver Whitecaps, currently in fourth place in the USL's First Division tomorrow night, at 7:30 pm, in the Tropical Park Stadium.

Miami FC will yet again be led by team and league leading scorer, Alex Afonso, whom after yesterday's game has upped his tally to nine goals and 21 points. Miami and Vancouver have played twice this season with the Whitecaps notching a 1-0 victory at Tropical Park back on the 16th of May and playing to a 1-1 tie at Swangard Stadium in Vancouver on June 22nd.

The Vancouver Whitecaps (8-4-4) recorded their first-ever win over the Carolina RailHawks after a 1-0 home result on Saturday evening. Eduardo Sebrango's sixth goal of the season ended Vancouver's five-game winless streak, as his early strike moved the Whitecaps into fourth place in the USL First Division standings.

Despite claiming three valuable points in the final game of a three-match home stand at Swangard Stadium, the Whitecaps rode their luck at times against a dangerous-looking RailHawks side, but poor finishing from the visitors meant Carolina came away with nothing from their second meeting of the month with Vancouver.

After Tuesday night's encounter with Vancouver, Miami's next game is away at Silverbacks Park on Friday, August 8th against the same Atlanta team the Blues handily defeated 3-0 this past Sunday, July 27th. Miami's next home match at Tropical Park is on August 24th against the Charleston Battery. Group tickets are currently on sale by visiting our ticket page by calling 305-728-2612. Single game tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-866-57-MIAMI. Watch all of Miami's away games and all other USL games live on USL Live!
