Kingsport, TN - The Greeneville Astros were defeated by the Kingsport Mets, 6-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Hunter Wright Stadium to complete a three-game series sweep. With the loss, the Mets (8-7) jumped ahead of the Astros (7-7) in the Appalachian League West standings by a half game while the Elizabethton Twins (7-6) still led the division going into Tuesday night.

The Astros began the game with the lead, just as they had the previous two nights. It all started when leadoff man Osvaldo Duarte got on with a single and stole second. Then, the Astros took a 1-0 lead on an Aaron Mizell RBI single into right field.

Mizell went on to finish with a three-for-four day at the plate to go along with three RBI. Duarte ended up two-for-five, and Hector Roa was two-for-four.

The second and third innings belonged to the Mets as they scored all six of their runs during that span. In the second, it was a Luis Carpio two-run double that did the damage. Then, after two runs scored on a Luis Ortega single in the third, Carpio struck again with a two-run single of his own.

After the third inning, Astros' pitchers Jose Montero and Albert Abreu combined to throw five scoreless innings and allowed just one hit. However, they needed some help from the bats to catch up.

A leadoff double from Gabriel Bracamonte in the fifth inning got the Astros started. Following a Myles Straw single that put runners at the corners, Aaron Mizell drove them both home with a two-run double. Then, in the sixth inning, Brauly Mejia led off with a solo homer to bring the Astros within two. However, they were unable to cut into the lead any more as Kingsport held on.

Mets starter Darwin Ramos picked up the win after allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. Taylor Henry came on in the ninth inning and earned the save.

The Astros will begin a new three-game road series at the Johnson City Cardinals on Wednesday, July 8th at 7:00pm. The next home series for the Astros will begin on Saturday, July 11th against the Pulaski Yankees.
