Detroit Shock News Release

Auburn Hills, MI - WNBA Detroit Shock star forward Swin Cash continues her winning ways in the metro Detroit Community by purchasing 32 season tickets for all 17 regular season Shock home games during the 2006 WNBA season. The tickets will be distributed by the Shock community relations department for each individual game to non-profit 501 (C) (3) charitable groups throughout the state of Michigan, beginning with Wednesday night's 7:30 p.m. season opener at The Palace versus the Minnesota Lynx. Barat House and Reach Youth Programs will each attend, becoming this year's first "Cash for Kids" groups.

"For all the different ways that Shock and WNBA fans have supported me, I feel it is my responsibility to give back to the community, especially the kids," said Cash, a two-time WNBA All-Star and 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist. "I want to help them experience things they may not have had the chance to. As I wear the #32 on the court, I'll know that there are 32 youth in the stands enjoying the game in the Cash for Kids Section, who may not have had the opportunity otherwise."

At each game, the Detroit Shock will recognize The Swin Cash Foundation, Cash for Kids Charity and the group attending with "Cash for Kids" signage. The group in attendance will also receive 32 "Cash for Kids" tee shirts. Swin Cash Foundation started the "Cash for Kids" charity two years ago to assist youth agencies and schools in the Detroit area and in Cash's hometown, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The mission of the Charity is to provide the essential tools for kids to "get in the game educationally and on the court." With a focus on helping children develop their skills both inside and outside of the classroom, "Cash for Kids" provides financial support to the arts while focusing on culture, literacy, athletics and youth development initiatives.
