Mental Errors, Injuries plague VooDoo in Home Opener

The New Orleans VooDoo (0-1) fell to their division rival Tampa Bay Storm in the season opener in the Tampa Bay Times Forum Friday night.

Veteran DB Eddie Moten started the game off with back to back interceptions, but soon the offensive firepower emerged from both teams and business picked up in the 2nd quarter. The VooDoo went into half only down by three points, 24-27.

WR LJ Castile finished the game with 4 touchdowns and 10 receptions for 169 yards.

QB Kurt Rocco injured his should on a run in the 3rd quarter, leading to Ryan Perrilloux's arena football debut. Prior to the injury, Rocco was 17-33 for 251 yards and 2 interceptions. The injury bug bit the VooDoo again at the end of the 3rd quarter when promising WR Chase Deadder went down with a leg injury. Deadder had 10 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown on the game.

The VooDoo ended a disappointing and mistake plagued night with a 57-62 loss in Tampa Bay.

The VooDoo look to recover during the bye week in preparation for their first home game of the season against the Cleveland Gladiators.
