Menace Add Three Stellar Playmakers

Steel City Menace News Release


The Steel City Menace added exceptional playmakers by signing former Pittsburgh Panther wide receiver Kevin Weatherspoon, former University of Idaho wide receiver and Raliek Greene a former Mesa Community College standout.

Greene, a 6'3" 205lb speedster from St. Petersburg, Virginia is a veteran of the professional indoor circuit. He most recently played for Richmond Raiders in the PIFL. He has a reputation for tough play and has big play potential at any time.

Weatherspoon , at 5' 10" 185lb also brings speed and big play potential.

Career:

2014: Played in all 13 games, making one start (Syracuse)...posted the best receiving statistics of his career with 15 receptions for 195 yards (13.0 avg.)...had three catches for 46 yards (15.3 avg.) against Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl...had three catches for 24 yards (8.0 avg.) against Syracuse...also contributed as a return specialist...had four punt returns for six yards and two kickoff returns for 32 yards on the year.

2013: Played in all 12 regular-season games, making two starts (Sept. 14 vs. New Mexico and Nov. 9 vs. Notre Dame)...did not play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl vs. Bowling Green due to a foot fracture sustained in the Nov. 29 Miami contest...compiled 14 receptions for 155 yards (11.1 avg.) on the year...also had 12 punt returns for 98 yards (8.2 avg.) and two kickoff returns for 40 yards (20.0 avg.)...set career highs with four catches for 58 yards (14.5 avg.) at Duke, including an outstretched 15-yard sideline catch that converted a 3rd-and-7 and allowed Pitt to run out the clock in a 58-55 win...had a career-long 56-yard punt return vs. Old Dominion...Pitt parlayed the return into a short 12-yard TD drive, putting the Panthers ahead of ODU to stay (14-10) in an eventual 35-24 win.

2012: Played in four games (Youngstown State, Rutgers, USF and BBVA Compass Bowl against Ole Miss).

2011: Played in three games (Connecticut, Syracuse and BBVA Compass Bowl against SMU).

2010: Redshirted as a true freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year starter on both sides of the ball for perennial Pennsylvania Class A power Clairton...averaged 23 yards per catch for his career, totaling 129 receptions for 2,967 yards and 42 touchdowns...also totaled 22 interceptions in four seasons as a starting cornerback...selected first team All-State Class A by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers each of his final two years...Pennsylvania Football News All-Class A (first team)...Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22"...Pittsburgh Tribune-Review "Terrific 25"...selected to play in the Big 33 Football Classic...as a senior, Weatherspoon had 44 catches for 891 yards (20.3 avg.) and 13 TDs, while intercepting 10 passes on defense...led Clairton to a 15-1 record and the WPIAL and PIAA Class A championships as a senior...the Bears won 15 consecutive games en route to their second consecutive WPIAL title and state final...Clairton went a combined 30-2 (.938) over Weatherspoon's junior and senior seasons...his junior year Weatherspoon had 57 receptions for 1,470 yards (25.8 avg.) and 20 touchdowns while picking off seven passes...was named the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette WPIAL Class A Player of the Year as a junior...rated the No. 23 overall prospect in Pennsylvania by Scout, No. 28 by SuperPrep and No. 29 by Rivals...SuperPrep All-Northeast Team...PrepStar All-East Region...played under Coach Tom Nola...four-year letterman in both football and basketball...also lettered in baseball and track...Honor Roll student.

PERSONAL: Kevin James Weatherspoon, born 9/27/91, is the son of Kimberle Roberts and James Weatherspoon...has two brothers and one sister...comes from a football family...father James played at Pitt and Washington & Jefferson College...uncle Ray Weatherspoon played at Penn State before transferring to Pitt...brother James II played at Washington & Jefferson...uncle Lionel Weatherspoon played at California University of Pennsylvania, while cousin Ray Turner played at Toledo...earned his bachelor's in social sciences and is pursuing a second degree in legal studies.

Preston Davis played Wide Receiver for 3 years at the University of Idaho (2008-2010) and accumulated a bowl ring in his time with the Vandals (2009 Humanitarian Bowl). His game winning 2 point conversion in that game was ranked #1 on ESPN top 10 plays of the 2009 bowl season. Following college Preston played Quarterback for two semi-professional teams and led both to the championship. Winning the first with the Las Vegas Cobras in 2013 and losing his 2nd with the Grand Junction Gladiators in 2015. Now officially signed with the Mile High Menace and ready to contribute everything he has to become a champion on this level as well.
