Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis Express linebacker Drew Jackson and kicker Austin MacGinnis earned player of the week honors in The Alliance of American Football on Tuesday.

The Alliance named Jackson the Defensive Player of the Week, and MacGinnis the Special Teams Player of the Week. Both Jackson and MacGinnis played key roles in the Express' come-from-behind 26-23 win over the San Diego Fleet during week four.

Jackson was a monster Saturday against the Fleet with 14 total tackles, including 13 solo tackles, four tackles for a loss, four passes defended, one sack and one interception. His 14 combined tackles is second most in a game in Alliance history. His 13 solo tackles are the most in a game in Alliance history.

Jackson became the first player in Alliance history with at least 10 tackles, one sack and one interception in a single game.

"I think (Drew) Jackson is a special player and a special linebacker. He just doesn't know it yet," Express head coach Mike Singletary said Saturday after the win over San Diego.

Jackson was speechless when he found out about his stat line after the game Saturday night and called it a "blessing" to be a part of.

"Honestly, I'm just thankful to play for this great defense," Jackson said Saturday night. "We put in a lot of work this season. It's a blessing."

After being signed to the team mid-week, MacGinnis converted on all four of his field goal attempts (46, 40, 35, 45), including the 45-yard game-winning field goal with 2:42 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Express a 26-23 victory over San Diego. His four field goals made are tied for most in a game in Alliance history.

"I'm very excited about that," head coach Mike Singletary said about his new kicker Saturday. "The consistency of this position is critical especially in a game like this. For us that really is a word that we want to expound upon, especially as we go forward the rest of the season, is consistency in every position."

Jackson and MacGinnis look to build off their dominant performances Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Legends.
