Memphis 901 FC's Stephen Glass Voted USL Championship Coach of the Month

TAMPA, Fla. - The USL Championship announced on Wednesday that Memphis 901 FC's Stephen Glass had been voted as the league's Coach of the Month for June. Glass earned the award after leading the side to four wins in an undefeated five-game slate. The run of success also stretched the club's overall undefeated streak to 12 games to set a 901 FC club record.
"I am honored and grateful to be named Coach of the Month. I see it as a recognition for our players, staff and families following some exceptional performances in June," said Glass. "Our entire group contributed to some top performances against very good opponents so there is a lot to be pleased about and for us to build on."
Appointed as the third Head Coach in 901 FC's history this offseason, Glass has built on the success the club achieved a season ago when finishing second in the USL Championship's Eastern Conference, its best finish in its history. Bringing head coaching experience from the top flights in his native Scotland and the United States, Glass' side produced a brilliant style of attacking play during June as it recorded a league-high 15 goals while also leading the league with an Expected Goals mark of 9.04xG.
"We are delighted for Stephen to be recognized for the great work he has done so far this season," said 901 FC Assistant General Manager Caleb Patterson-Sewell. "The boys have really bought in to his ideas and their performances have been first class. We look forward to a fantastic second half of the season for our group."
With games in hand on its rivals in the Eastern Conference, Memphis remains in contention for first place in the standings as it enters an intriguing west coast trip this week with visits to Oakland Roots SC on Wednesday night before heading to meet current Western Conference leader Sacramento Republic FC this Saturday.
Glass earned 61 percent of the ballot to claim the award. Monterey Bay F.C.'s Frank Yallop finished second on 20 percent after leading his side to a perfect month with four wins in four games that propelled the side into the top three position in the Western Conference at the end of June.
The USL Championship's Coach of the Month award is voted upon by the USL Championship National Media Panel and the USL Championship Technical Committee, with each group responsible for 50 percent of the overall vote.
