Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has announced that veteran coach James Meara will join Riverhounds 2 as an assistant coach in the team's inaugural season.
Meara has been with the Riverhounds for the past nine years as the Academy East Director, overseeing RDA Connellsville, and he brings experience spanning from the youth to the professional level to the new USL League Two side.
"Adding James Meara to the Riverhounds 2 staff is a great step in bringing both experience and depth to our squad this summer," Riverhounds 2 head coach Josh Kremers said. "His playing and coaching résumé reflects not only his high-level background, but also his commitment to developing young players.
"James brings a strong understanding of the game and a growth mindset to the program, along with a clear desire to continue strengthening the professional pathway by developing, identifying and recruiting young talent who will push the club forward. I'm excited to welcome him to the Riverhounds 2 staff."
Meara brings the experience of a seven-year professional playing career in England and a more than 13-year association with Watford FC, having represented the club at every level, from academy to the pro team. He also spent two years as a pro with Doncaster Rovers, and upon arriving in the U.S., briefly suited up for the Riverhounds before moving into coaching.
In addition to his time coaching in the RDA, Meara has USL League Two experience, having served as the head coach for Evergreen FC in 2016. He currently holds a USSF B Coaching License.
Meara and Kremers have begun preparations for the team's inaugural season, which begins against Cleveland Force at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Highmark Stadium. More team news will be announced soon, and all Hounds 2 updates can be found online on the Hounds 2 News page, and on social media by following @RiverhoundsTwo.
