February 15, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release
The Southern Professional Hockey League announced Tuesday that Augusta RiverHawks' forward Aaron McGill has been suspended for the remainder of the season including the playoffs.
McGill faced disciplinary measures stemming from his actions during a fight in a game on Saturday, February 12th against the Knoxville Ice Bears.
"We respectfully disagree with the ruling handed down by the SPHL," said RiverHawks' General Manager Mark Richards. "We will follow the appeal process as laid out by the league."
The appeal has already been filed by the RiverHawks. The appeal is brought before the league disciplinary board which is chaired by Pensacola Ice Flyers' owner Tim Kerr. The timeline for the appeal process is not immediately available.
McGill played in 41 games with the RiverHawks this season scoring seven goals and adding 18 assists. During the season McGill compiled 169 penalty minutes and an even plus-minus rating.
