Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release
LAKE CHARLES - Shadrick McAfee, one of the most celebrated members of the Swashbucklers since its inception in 2005, has rejoined the team in time for this week's home game against the Katy Ruff Riders. McAfee relisting at 5'10, 220 from Central Arkansas will see his time this year on the defensive side of the ball. Shadrick is one of the Swashbucklers natural leaders and will be a welcome addition to a team that has dominated on the defensive side of the ball recently.
This isn't their first Rodeo! Round 3 set for tomorrow night at 7pm
The Katy Ruff Riders are more than likely excited about this weeks visit to Lake Charles and the Smuggler's Den. It will be their third straight game against the defending champions and they can only look at it in a positive. With two bye weeks in between three games with the Bucs they should be ready to contend with Louisiana. If not they can still look at it in a positive that in the week after, they wont have to face the purple and black team again for a while. Katy has devoted the last month of the season to trying to defeat the Louisiana Swashbucklers. Since the opening kickoff on March 29th the Bucs have outscored the Ruff Riders169-71. They have out gained the Ruff Riders by 596 yards to 289 yards and their turnover ratio is 8-2. The Ruff Riders will need their A game this week and the Swashbucklers will need to ward off any false confidence (if they have any) and play the same Bucs ball they are use to playing.
Sharif Zahir, Kicker replaces Hillin in the Lineup
Whitney Hillin has retired from indoor football this week and will be replaced by Sharif Zahir, 5'8, 170 pounds, from Tuskegee University in Alabama. Zahir kicked for the Roughnecks and Stampede Express in the past. Hillin's departure is due to a career promotion in Houston where he works as a draftsman in the oil industry. "Whitney was certainly a fan favorite and will be missed by many", said Richard Dow, operations Director for the Bucs. Hillin will be remembered both as "Disco" who won the heart of many fans with his dancing ability and as the kicker who booted the Swashbucklers into the Intense Bowl last year with a win over the Odessa Roughnecks with just forty-six seconds remaining in the game. Whitney is leaving the team as the all time most accurate foot in Swashbuckler History.
