Maywood Buzz to Host 3-Day Preseason Shoot-Out

November 4, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Buzz News Release

Maywood, CA - The Maywood Buzz today have announced that they will host a three day, eight team shoot-out. The Maywood Buzz 2008 Preseason Shoot-Out will take place on the weekend of November 14th - 16th, 2008. All games will be played at the Maywood Activity Center, located at 4801 East 58th Street, Maywood, CA 90270. "This is an awesome way to get in some preseason games, while at the same time Owners, Coaches and General Managers can view their players that are in training camp right now under ABA Rules, game situations and how they play under pressure" stated Buzz General Manager/Head Coach Burrel Lee III.

"We will be using a modified clock of four 8-minute quarters with teams playing a total of 5 games in 3 days. Two games both Friday and Saturday with the Championship, 3rd Place, 5th Place and 7th Place games taking place on Sunday afternoon. The winner will walk away with the Maywood Buzz Preseason Shoot-Out Trophy" added Lee. Not all teams will be ABA Teams as we will also have a couple of local competitive Pro-Am Teams with players looking for a chance to showcase their skills against the ABA Teams.

Don Sanchies who coaches and runs The Los Angeles Slam (formally Semi Pro Inc) said "this is a great chance for the players I have that may have been overlooked or just need to be seen to get their shot. It maybe a long shot, but the chance that the Buzz is giving us to come out and compete with the talent that these teams will bring is great".

ABA teams that have committed to play in the Shoot-Out are the Maywood Buzz, San Diego Wildcats, San Francisco Rumble and Arizona Rhinos. "We are hoping to get the Modesto Bearcats, Los Angeles Push and Las Vegas Aces or one of the other West Coast ABA teams to come out and join us in this event" says Lee
